Southern Illinois guard Darren Brooks waas named the Missouri Valley Conference Player-of-the-Week on Tuesday, after leading the Salukis to three victories and a conference championship during the last eight days.
He averaged 18.3 points per game, shooting 56.3 percent from the floor (18-of-32), which included an 8-of-17 performance from beyond the arc. He made 11-of-12 free throws.
Brooks, the reigning Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in the Missouri Valley Conference also had four steals, and averaged 3.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists.
In his career, Brooks helped the Salukis post a perfect 36-0 home record against conference competition in the past four years and four-straight regular-season titles.
