Softball Sweeps Samford, Extend Winning Streak to Nine Games

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Southern Illinois swept Samford behind one-hitters from Cassidy Scoggins and Amy Harre to extend their winning streak to nine games.

In game one, Scoggins struck out eight, allowed one hit and only two base runners to improve to 6-2 on the season. The Salukis scored their lone run in the sixth inning behind a single, a walk and an error.

In game two, Harre (7-5) allowed one hit and struck out seven, improving her career strikeout total to 604. The win was her sixth straight. Offensively, SIU scored three runs in each of the first three innings on their way to an 11-0 win in five innings.

Katie Louis picked up a double, a homerun and four RBI and Ashley Hamby hit a homerun and added three RBI in the win.
