Softball's Amy Harre Named MVC Pitcher of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Following a strong performance last weekend at SIU's Kay Brechtelsbauer Southern Classic, Saluki senior pitcher Amy Harre was named Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week for the tenth time in her career on Monday.
Harre went 2-0 with a 1.00 ERA, a shutout and two complete games, including a win the championship game of the Kay Brechtelsbauer Southern Classic on Sunday.
The Nashville, Ill. native struck out 13 batters in 14 innings and allowed only two earned runs, four walks and ten hits over the weekend.
In her first outing, Harre threw a three-hit shutout, striking out eight and walking three, in a 6-0 win over Valparaiso.
In the championship game against Kansas, Harre struck out five, walked one and allowed seven hits. After allowing two runs in the first inning, she held Kansas scoreless for the final six innings of the game in the 4-2 win.
For the season, Harre (3-5) improved her ERA to 1.89 with 48 strikeouts, two shutouts, 15 earned runs allowed and seven complete games in 55.2 innings.
Harre and the Salukis return to action this weekend at the Florida State Invitational on March 25-27 in Tallahassee, Fla.
