STARKVILLE, Miss. - Due to steady rain, which is expected to continue throughout the day and turn into freezing rain, host Mississippi State has cancelled the Saturday's games of the MSU Invitational.
Because of potential hazards in regard to travel schedules, SIU has also withdrawn from the tournament and its remaining games.
The Southern Illinois softball team ended the first day of play, 1-1, having split with Tennessee State and MSU. SIU handled the Tigers 8-0 in the first game of the tournament, but fell to tournament host MSU, 2-0 in the night cap.
The Salukis will take part in the NFCA Leadoff Classic Feb. 24-26 in Columbus, Georgia. SIU will play Michigan State at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
