Track and field to host Spring Classic

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois track and field teams will compete in the first outdoor meet of the season Friday and Saturday March 24-25 when they host the SIU Spring Classic at McAndrew Stadium.
The field includes teams from Missouri Valley Conference schools Bradley, Illinois State and Indiana State, as well as Marquette, Miami-Ohio, DePaul and St. Louis University.
The majority of the Saluki track and field teams wrapped up the indoor season at the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championships in February. The men finished third in the men's team race, while the women finished fifth. Brittany Riley, Mark Milleville, Bianca Stuart, Felix Anderson and Eli Baker went on to win individual conference titles.
Three Saluki throwers went on to compete at the NCAA Championships March 10-11. Milleville, Amarachi Ukabam and Riley each earned All-American honors at the NCAA Indoor Championships. Ukabam finished second in the weight throw and ninth in the shot put, and Riley finished fifth in the shot. Milleville went on to finish 12th in the men's weight.
The Spring Classic will begin Friday at 1 p.m. with the men's and women's hammer throws. Field events will resume Saturday at 10 a.m., the running events starting at 11 a.m.
