Women's Golf Hosts 12th Annual Saluki Invitational

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois University women's golf team will host its 12th Annual Saluki Invitational on Sunday and Monday, Mar. 26-27, at Hickory Ridge Golf Course.
SIU looks to win its fourth Saluki Invitational title in tournament history and its second title in a row after taking the trophy last year. The Salukis are coming off a great showing at the NIU Snowbird where they had a fifth place finish.
Individually, Christine Zoerlein leads the team this season with a 78.7 stroke average over 19 rounds. The sophomore is coming off a fourth place finish at the NIU Snowbird.
Junior Josie Lowder holds a 79.1 average also over 19 rounds. Her top finish came earlier in the year when she placed seventh at the Austin Peay Invitational.
Freshman Braidy Hood is third on the team in stroke average with 80.2. She has had six rounds in the 70s this season.
This year's Saluki Invitational will feature four Missouri Valley Conference teams including Bradley, Evansville, Illinois State and Northern Iowa.
Other teams competing are Austin Peay, Eastern Illinois, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, John A. Logan, Murray State, Rend Lake and Western Illinois.
Hickory Ridge Public Golf Course serves as the home of Saluki women's golf. The course plays at 6,017 yards with a par of 72.
