RIO VERDE, Ariz. - The Southern Illinois women's golf team finished tied for 13th place at the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational. The Salukis three-day total was 941, 52 strokes behind the leader Northwestern.
Individually, Christine Zoerlein continued to lead the Salukis with a 4-over-par 75. She finished tied for 35th place with a three-round total of 235.
Josie Lowder bounced back from a slow start the first day to tie for 45th. After carding an 83 in the first round, she finished with two rounds of 77.
Freshman Braidy Hood and Abbigail Johnson both tied for 49th. Johnson had her lowest score of the season with a 6-over 77.
Kate Laegeler tied for 63rd, while Samantha Sutzer finished in 95th place.
Northwestern University led the way the whole tournament with a team total of 889. The individual winner of the tournament was Amy Schmucker of Michigan (75, 69, 71=215).
Next up for the Salukis is the NIU Snowbird March 15-16.
