CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University's stretch of eight home games in 10 days continues when the Salukis host South Dakota State (0-5) in a pair of midweek tilts. The Dawgs and Jackrabbits play both Tuesday and Wednesday at 2 p.m., CST.
SIU (10-3) looks to get back on track after having a nine-game winning streak snapped in a 2-1 series loss to Northern Illinois.
SIU's defense committed a total of 14 errors, while its offense sputtered no more than six hits in three games against NIU.
The Dawgs hope to improve on those things against the winless Jackrabbits this week.
Meanwhile, SDSU, who moved up to the Division I ranks at the start of the 2004-05 season, was swept in a three-game series during its first visit to Carbondale a year ago.
With a win Tuesday, Dan Callahan will get his 300th career victory as SIU's head coach.
Left-handers Adam Snyder (Tuesday) and Charlie Weber (Wednesday) will start on the mound for the Dawgs.
