Softball travels to California for National Invitational

The Southern Illinois University softball team (12-1) continues its season this weekend at the National Invitational Tournament in San Jose, Calif.
Play begins Friday with pool play as SIU takes on #10/11 Arizona State at 4 p.m. CT and UC Davis at 6 p.m. CT.
From there, the teams go into bracket play Saturday and Sunday. Other teams at the three-day tournament are Iowa, St. Francis, San Jose State, California, Colorado State, Santa Clara, Nevada, North Dakota State and Sacramento State.
The Sun Devils come into the tournament with a 21-1 record so far this season while UC Davis is 5-12.
Because of Internet availability at the Twin Creeks Sports Complex, LiveStats and the audio Webcast will not be available this weekend.
Following the National Invitational, the Salukis will remain in California for a few days and travel to Moraga where SIU fill face St. Mary's in a doubleheader.
