Swimming and Diving earns three conference weekly honors

Three members of the Saluki swimming and Diving team earned conference honors following SIU's meet with Saint Louis University over the weekend.
Kelly Dvorak was named the Missouri Valley Conference Swimmer of the Week. The junior from Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., finished second in the 400 IM with a time of 4:41.77 and won the 200 Back with a time 2:09.65. Dvorak also took part in two relays for the Salukis, helping SIU to victories in the 200 Medley Relay (1:47.83) and the 400 Medley Relay (3:56.94).
On the men's side, Antonio Santoro was named Sun Belt Swimmer of the Week and Kyle Carevic earned Diver of the Week honors.
Santoro turned in a dominating performance against Saint Louis University, placing first in all four events he competed in. He helped the Salukis to a win in the 400 Medley Relay (3:27.66) as well as the 200 Medley Relay (1:36.58).
He also swam anchor in the 800 Free Relay and powered the Salukis to a first-place finish with a time of 6:57.28, coming from behind in the last leg to finish over the second-place team (6:58.06). In his lone individual event of the day, the 500 Freestyle, Santoro finished a full 17 seconds ahead of the second-place competitor, winning easily with a time of 4:34.66.
Carevic won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events at a dual meet with Saint Louis University. The sophomore posted a score of 245.10 in the 3-meter event and notched a 273.07 in the 1-meter to help the Salukis defeat the Billikens.
