Men's Golf finishes 10th at Branson Creek Invitational

HOLLISTER, Mo. - The Southern Illinois University men's golf team fired a 31-over-par 315 in the final round of the Branson Creek Invitational on Tuesday, finishing 10th overall at the tournament.
Hosted by Missouri State University, the Branson Creek Invitational was a 54-hole tournament that took place at Branson Creek Golf Course in Hollister, Mo. The par-71 course played at 7,036 yards.
Southern started the tournament in 10th place and never moved up, finishing with rounds of 310-300-315--925. The Salukis finished 49 strokes out of first place with Missouri Valley Conference foe Illinois State taking the team win with rounds of 287-296-293--876.
Illinois State's Matt Miller takes the individual title, coming in at 1-under-par with rounds of 75-69-68--212.
Senior Daniel Tomlin led SIU wire-to-wire and finished in a tie for 22nd, carding rounds of 74-72-82--228.
Finishing one stroke and five places behind Tomlin is freshman Blake Driskell, coming in with a 16-over-par 229.
Brandon Vagner was next in the Saluki lineup, finishing in a tie for 36th with a 21-over-par 234, firing an 8-over 79 in the final round.
Senior Andrew Gwinup finished two strokes behind Vagner with a 23-over 236, placing in a tie for 41st. Gwinup posted the team's low score in the final round, coming in with a 4-over-par 75.
Braxton Weaver rounded out scoring for SIU, posting a 30-over-par 243 for 52nd overall.
Southern Illinois caps off the regular season April 9-10 at the ASU Indian Classic in Jonesboro, Ark.
