Stapleton garners MVC weekly honors

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Southern Illinois University senior jumper Antwon Stapleton was named Missouri Valley Conference Male Field Athlete of the Week the league announced Tuesday afternoon.
Stapleton, who hails from Acworth, Ga., jumped 49-02.50 to finish third of 36 triple jumpers at the Missouri Relays. The senior is already regionally qualified in the event, ranked first in the MVC this season and fourth in the nation.
This week marks the first time he has been named MVC Field Athlete of the Week in his Saluki career.
