Softball set to host NCAA Regional Softball Tournament

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The grass is mowed, the field is raked and the stage is set as the No. 24 Southern Illinois University softball team prepares to open its fifth-straight trip to the NCAA Regional Championship, this time on its home turf.
2007 NCAA Carbondale Regional Tournament Game Notes
The Salukis are set to host No. 18 Missouri at 4:30 p.m. on Friday in the opening round of the 2007 NCAA Carbondale Regional. DePaul, the No. 14 overall seed, will face Mississippi Valley State in the first game of the day, set to begin at 2 p.m.
For Southern Illinois, this marks the team's sixth trip to the NCAA Tournament and fifth in as many years.
Carbondale is one of 16 regional sites across the country with four teams at each regional. The teams will play a double-elimination format and declare a regional champion.
The regional champions are then paired together in Super Regionals that take place on home sites. The teams in the Super Regional will play a best-of-three series with the champion moving on to the 2007 College World Series in Oklahoma City, Okla.
