Track and Field signs pole vaulter Miracle Thompson

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois track and field has signed pole vaulter Miracle Thompson, head coach Connie Price-Smith and her staff announced Wednesday.
Thompson, a Terre Haute, Ind. native, recently won the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference pole vault title for Terre Haute North High School. In addition, she is a three-time state qualifier in the pole vault, earning high school All-American honors as a senior. As junior she also qualified for state in the 100-meter hurdles.
"Miracle will add a great amount of talent to the Saluki pole vault squad and will be very competitive right away in the Missouri Valley Conference," pole vault coach Dan Digman said. "She is the most talented female vaulter to ever sign with the Salukis and will push her teammates to be better. I am looking forward to adding Miracle to our squad."
The incoming freshman has jumped has high as 11-09.75 already exceeding the SIU school record. She plans to major in recreation.
