DePaul 3, University of Missouri 0
University of Missouri Head Coach Ehren Earleywine
On the team's hitting...
"If you look back at both the games against DePaul, we hit so many balls firm. I bet we had 10, 12, maybe even 15 firm hit balls and only a handful of them got through. We just felt snake bit offensively. That's just the way it goes sometimes. I have to give my girls credit, they were done 3 - 0 and they didn't quit."
On thinking about walking DePaul's home run hitter...
"Not really because she hasn't hurt us so far and the kid behind her is 7 points higher. So statistically and mathematically it didn't make much sense. I thought about it, but the kid on deck is batting .307. As it turns out the kid on deck got a hit too, so it didn't really matter."
On using two pitchers...
"I wasn't even thinking about game 2. I was just thinking how in the world we can win game one. I don't care if my catcher pitched; it is just how we can we piece something together for 7 innings of successful pitching. I didn't care how it was going to get done or how long Jen was going to last."
University of Missouri Outfielder Micaela Minner
On the season...
"It was a turnaround season; we were picked 8 in the Big 12 preseason poll. I think Coach Eugene came in and did a great job. He showed us the little things that I never had any other coach point out. He came in; we had a rough preseason, and played a lot of top 10 teams. Overall, we had a very good season and I'm excited about next season. Good luck to us next year."
DePaul Head Coach Eugene Lenti
On the team's performance...
"We got great pitching today from Becca and Tracie. Fantastic defense again after shaking an error off in the first inning. It is a great win for the program obviously and I feel that it really validates us. Just a great day for DePaul."
On the game plan for Missouri...
"We were playing to win one and they were playing not to lose one. That makes it a different approach. We had a great game plan today and knew what we needed to do today. We're thinking to go out and win one, when they are thinking that we have to win one. You have to give credit to our defense for all the work they have done all weekend long."
On Jackie Tarulli-Fisher's home run...
"Jackie hit probably for the post part one of the most timely hits in DePaul history today. One thing about home runs is not how many you hit, it's when you hit them. I don't think there was a bigger one in DePaul history."
DePaul Pitcher Becca Heteniak
On having a two-run lead...
"I didn't know that was all we needed, but obviously I have more confidence going out there. Knowing that I had 2 runs on the board helped out. When your offense comes through it makes defense a lot easier."
On the game...
"Of course you feel a little pressure. I didn't feel extra pressure today. We just had to go out and win. That is what our team did. We played great defense and great offense today."
DePaul Designative Player Jackie Tarulli-Fisher
On hitting a home run...
"I had been making a lot of adjustments lately. I was seeing the ball well so I just came in and wailed on it. I was just feeling good. It was one of those things that just come. It was a great feeling."
