Softball second among NFCA's All-Academic teams

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University was second among the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's All-Academic teams for the 2007 season.
The Salukis, who boasted a 3.557 team GPA, finished second only to St. Bonaventure University (3.662). Eastern Michigan (3.528), Gardner-Webb (3.493) and South Carolina (3.462) rounded out the top-five.
"I am proud of our team's efforts in the classroom," said head coach Kerri Blaylock."The kids work very hard to balance academics and athletics. Our academic support people do such a great job with providing our student-athletes with what they need to succeed."
SIU was rated among the NFCA's Top-10 All-Academic teams for the sixth time in the last seven years.
