Women's Golf finishes in third at Baja Invitational

BAJA, Mexico - The Southern Illinois women's golf team wrapped up their first spring tournament with a third-place finish at the Baja Invitational today.
SIU's team total of 950 through the three round tournament was only three strokes out of second and nine strokes out of first.
The Salukis were led by Christine Zoerlein with a 236 (79-79-78), which was good enough for ninth-place overall.
Kate Laegeler's 238 (81-78-79) tied her for a 13th-palce finish. Lauren May followed with a 240 (83-74-83), tying her for 16th.
Braidy Hood tied for 18th with a 241 (81-83-77) and Kelly Gerlach rounded out SIU's scoring with a 244 (83-82-79), tying her for 24th.
The Salukis will be back in action on Friday, March 7 and Saturday, March 8 when they travel to Phoenix, Ariz. for the Rio Verde Invitational.
