Women's Golf places 16th at Johnie Imes Invitational

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Southern Illinois University women's golf team placed 16th at the Johnie Imes Invitational. The tournament, hosted by Mizzou, was the second tournament of the season for the Salukis.
SIU shot a 971 finishing in front of Memphis who shot a 999 and Drury with 1010. The Salukis were only 16 shots behind 15th-placed Redlands Community College. University of Mississippi won the tournament with Arkansas-Little Rock and Mizzou tied for second.
"Our bright spot was Lauren's 74," said head coach Diane Daugherty.
Lauren May led the Salukis with a 233 (80-79-74), to tie for 27th. Alisha Matthews shot a 326 (79-77-80), while Kate Laegeler shot a 253 (82-90-81). Braidy Hood tied for 78th with a 255 (85-85-85) and Alex Anderson rounded out the Saluki lineup with a 259 (88-84-87).
"Our big focus is to regroup and focus on the MVC Preview," Daugherty said. "We can see where we stack against our conference opponents and make a lot better showing."
The Salukis will be back in action Oct. 20-21 at the MVC Preview in Panora, Iowa.
