Carlton Fay named MVC Player of the Week

Southern Illinois junior forward Carlton Fay was named the Missouri Valley Conference player-of-the-week on Monday.
Fay came off the bench for Southern to score a career-high 18 points in SIU's 91-63 win over UT-Martin on Saturday. Fay made 6-of-7 shots from the field and 5-of-5 from the line. He also added five rebounds in 15 total minutes.
It was a different role for the Hennepin, Ill. native, who started all 31 games last year.
"He was in foul trouble a lot as a starter (last year), so hopefully, if we keep him as a sixth man, we can keep him out of foul trouble," head coach Chris Lowery said. "(It) will allow him to come into the game at a different comfort level."
