Glosson named State Farm MVC Pitcher of the Week

ST. LOUIS - The Missouri Valley Conference announced sophomore Danielle Glosson as this week's State Farm MVC Pitcher of the Week on Monday.
Glosson went 2-0 in two games pitched at the Cathedral City Kickoff in Cathedral City, Calif. to help SIU start the season undefeated.
Glosson (Winston-Salem, N.C./North Davidson) opened with an eight-strikeout complete-game victory against No. 20/24 Long Beach State and held the potent 49er offense to one run in SIU's 7-1 win to start the season.
She followed with a tied career-high 11 strikeouts in the Salukis' nine-inning 5-4 win against UC Riverside. Glosson entered the game in the fourth inning and only surrendered two hits over the course of the final six innings and came up with key strikeouts to allow SIU to win in the bottom of the ninth.
In 13 innings pitched so far this year, Glosson has recorded 19 strikeouts with a 1.08 earned run average.
This is Glosson's first career State Farm MVC Pitcher of the Week award and second time one of the current Saluki pitchers have been honored by the league office.
