RIO VERDE, Ariz. - The Southern Illinois University women's golf team is in 16th place after the second round of play at the Duramed Collegiate Invitational at Rio Verde.
The Salukis shot a 314 in the second round, consistent with their first-round score of 314, totaling a team score of 698 after two rounds of play. Kate Laegeler has tallied six birdies in the first two days of competition, tying with Alexa Kim of Northern Arizona to lead all golfers.
Laegeler is tied for 12th after shooting a 74 in the second round to lead the Salukis. Alisha Matthews posted a 79, while Braidy Hood shot an 85. Alex Anderson shot a 77, a nine-stroke improvement from yesterday's score. Freshman Meg Gilley rounds out the Saluki lineup after shooting an 84 on day two of competition.
SIU leads Bradley, Akron, Ohio University, and Bowling Green State heading into the final day of competition. The final round begins Sunday with a shotgun at 8 a.m. (MT).
