RIO VERDE, Ariz. - The Southern Illinois University women's golf team finished 13th at the Duramed Collegiate Invitational. The Salukis shot a 935 (314-314-307) to finish ahead of Ball State, Xavier, Cincinnati, Bradley, Akron, Ohio University, and Bowling Green State, while Kansas took home the tournament title.
Kate Laegeler led the Salukis with a 226 (76-74-76) to tie for 15th overall. Alisha Matthews shot a 232 (79-79-74), while Meg Gilley shot a 239 (81-84-74). Braidy Hood recorded a 246 (78-85-83) and Alex Anderson finished one stroke behind with 247 (86-77-84).
Head coach Diane Daugherty was happy with the team's finish. "Our goal was to make improvements each time out," said Daugherty. "We were happy to beat Bradley and finish only six strokes behind Missouri State and eight strokes behind Illinois State."
