Warren, McCall Named MVC Athletes of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Southern Illinois' Stevie Warren and Jeneva McCall were named the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Track and Women's Field Athletes of the Week the league announced Tuesday.
McCall, who hails from Dolton, Ill., picked up a meet title, a new NCAA regional-qualifying mark and posted three top-five finishes at the SIU-Edwardsville Twilight last Saturday. The freshman posted her second regional mark of the season finishing second in the hammer throw with a toss of 183-02 (55.83m). McCall won the discus throw with a toss of 172-11 (52.72m), which currently ranks 14th in the nation. She also finished fourth in the shot put with a toss of 44-07 (13.59m). She is currently the league-leader in the discus, ranked fourth in the hammer and eighth in the shot.
Warren, a Sanford, Fla. native, recorded his first NCAA regional-qualifying mark of the season, adding two top-five individual finishes, also contributing to a winning relay and a second-place relay at the SIU-Edwardsville Twilight last Saturday. The junior finished second in the 200-meter dash in 21.30, a regional mark, and added a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter dash in 10.56. He also anchored the winning 4x400-meter relay team in 3:15.73 and ran the lead leg of the second-place 4x100-meter relay team that finished in 41.87. He has the top times in the league in both the 100 and 200 dashes.
Michael Disher (men's co-track) of Indiana State, Mat Clark (men's field) of UNI and Kellyn Johnson (women's track) of Wichita State joined McCall and Warren as the other award-winners in the MVC this week.
