Saluki designated hitter Tyler Bullock was named player-of-the-year in the Prospect League this summer after he slugged a league-high 14 home runs, 47 RBI and batted .312.
The Saluki senior earned the award, which is named after former Philadelphia Phillies great Mike Schmidt, while playing for the Richmond RiverRats.
Bullock, who played catcher for the RiverRats, was among four members of his team named to the East Division's postseason All-Star team. Richmond finished fourth in the East Division at 26-28.
Bullock hit .292 for Southern Illinois last season and led the team with 11 home runs.
