Women's Golf finishes ninth at Payne Stewart Memorial

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Southern Illinois women's golf team finished in ninth place at the Payne Stewart Memorial on Tuesday.
Led by Shaina Rennegarbe's tie for 16th with an overall score of 230 (78, 77, 75) the Salukis shot a final round of 313 and overall total of 951, putting them in the middle of the pack of 17 teams.
Margaret Gilley finished in a tie for 31st with a three round score of 237 (77, 81, 79) while Cassie Rushing finished in a tie for 26th with a 243 (80, 80, 75).
"It was a great experience and great course but our last two scores hurt us so we'll take it as a learning experience into our final tournament of the season in Hawaii," head coach Diane Daugherty said.
Ashleigh Rushing totaled a 249 (85, 88, 84) to finish in a tie for 77th while Alisha Matthews rounded out the Salukis lineup with in a tie for 64th place with a 251 (85, 80, 86).
Alex Anderson, who competed as an individual, finished in a tie for 51st place as she shot a 247 (82, 78, 87).
The Salukis will round out their fall season as they head to Kahunku, Hawaii to compete in the Turtle Bay Resort College Invitational on Nov. 2-4.
