CARBONDALE, Ill. - Chris Lowery put the finishing touches on his 2011 recruiting class Friday when Dantiel Daniels signed a letter of intent to play at Southern Illinois.
Daniels is a 6-foot-6, 225-pound power forward from Holt High School in Wentzville, Mo. He joins front-court signees Treg Setty (Maysville, Ky., Mason County H.S.), Tony Bryer (Norview, Va., Norview H.S.) and Harry Whitt (Salt Lake City, Utah, Judge Memorial H.S.), who signed earlier this week, as Lowery added size and athleticism to next year's roster.
"Dantiel is the kind of kid who wants to know who the best player is on the other team, and then he goes and beats him," Lowery said. 'The best thing about him is that he thinks nobody is going to out-work him."
Daniels has led his team in scoring and rebounding the last two years, including 17.5 points and 10.3 rebounds per game as a junior last season.
"He's a tremendous athlete who can really finish around the rim," Lowery said. "He has tremendous ability, but what sets him apart is that he only sees wins and losses."
