Harris, Pucylowski named to MVFC All-Newcomer Team

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Southern Illinois running back Shariff Harris and punter Austin Pucylowski have been named to the Missouri Valley Football Conference All-Newcomer Team that was released Wednesday.
Harris, a junior transfer from Pittsburgh, led SIU in rushing with 604 yards on 132 carries. He ran for a team-high eight touchdowns and finished as SIU's second-leading scorer with 48 points.
Harris had a pair of 150-yard rushing games this season. His first came at No. 23 Illinois State when he ran for 163 yards with two touchdowns on 37 carries, which tied for the 10th most rushes in a game in school history. On Oct. 30 at Missouri State, Harris rushed 16 times for 152 yards and one touchdown. His 58-yard run in the fourth quarter was the longest run from scrimmage by a Saluki this season and he finished the game averaging 9.5 yards per carry.
Pucylowski, a true freshman from New Berlin, Wis., punted 40 times for an average of 39.8 yards per punt. He had 16 punts downed inside the 20-yard line and no touchbacks. Pucylowski booted four punts over 50 yards with a long of 64 on the year.
Northern Iowa quarterback Tirrell Rennie was named the MVFC Newcomer of the Year while Youngstown State quarterback Kurt Hess received Freshman of the Year honors.
