Sasha Leeth named MVC Field Athlete of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Southern Illinois senior thrower Sasha Leeth was named the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced late Tuesday.
The honor comes after she won the women's hammer throw Friday night at the SIU Spring Classic with the second-best throw in SIU history, a heave of 206' 8" (62.99m). She also finished fifth in the discus (150' 7"; 45.91m) and seventh in the shot put (43' 7.2"; 13.29m).
Leeth's hammer throw mark ranks first in the league and the West Region and second in the country this season. She also ranks 34th in the region and 65th in the nation in the discus and 57th in the shot put regionally.
This weeks men's track athlete of the week was Michael Disher of Indiana State and the men's field co-athletes were Tim Glover of Illinois State and Major Clay of Indiana State. The women's track athlete was Tonya Nero of Wichita State.
