Softball places four on MVC Scholar-Athlete Team

ST. LOUIS - Regular-season champion Southern Illinois placed four student-athletes on the 2010 MVC Scholar-Athlete first team, the most in the league, as voted on by the league's softball sports information directors and announced by the Missouri Valley Conference office today. Mallory Duran, Danielle Glosson, Allie Hanson and Cristina Trapani make up SIU's honorees.
Sophomore outfielder Duran boasts a 4.0 in English-education, while junior catcher Trapani carries a perfect 4.0 in finance. Glosson, MVC Pitcher of the Year, owns a 3.75 in human nutrition and dietetics and Hanson posted a 3.54 in communication disorders.
Impressively, Southern Illinois has earned at least two MVC Scholar-Athlete first team selections for 13-consecutive seasons.
In all, six conference schools are represented on the first team. Including honorable mention selections, all 10 Valley schools are recognized on the scholar-athlete team.
