Softball places four on Academic All-District team

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Four Salukis were named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District team, announced Thursday.
Allie Hanson was named Academic All-District first team, boasting a 3.53 GPA in communication disorders. The senior designated player is batting .298 on the season, with 17 runs and seven home runs. Hanson was most recently earned the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Good Neighbor Award for her contributions both on and off the field.
Sophomore outfielder Mallory Duran earned second team honors, carrying a perfect 4.0 GPA in English-education. The Windsor, Colo. native is fifth on the team in batting, with a .297 batting average. Danielle Glosson, a human nutrition and dietetics major, carries a 3.75 GPA. Glosson has earned MVC Pitcher of the Week and MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week twice so far this season. She is 21-12 on the season, with seven shut outs and a no-hitter. The junior has entered the record books in several categories this season in her 37 appearances.
Senior outfielder Katie Wilson was the third Saluki placed on the second team, boasting a 3.31 GPA in elementary education. She is one of three Salukis batting over .300, with a .328 average. She most recently broke the single-season RBI record, with 48 on the season. Wilson has moved up in the all-time records during her senior year, with three top-ten rankings in school history. In addition, she leads the team in home runs with 12.
SIU takes pride in their academic success, and have had a top-20 team GPA among NFCA All-Academic teams since 2001.
