CARBONDALE, Ill. - John A. Logan transfer Rachelle Runge, has joined the Southern Illinois softball roster, Head Coach Kerri Blaylock announced today.
A native of Carterville, Ill., Runge joins the Salukis after a successful junior college career with the Lady Vols where she led her team to a 43-9 record last season.
In her two seasons, she combined for 84 RBIs and 15 home runs while being named to the All Region 24 Division I team for two season as well as the All Region 24 Division I tournament team in 2010.
"We are pleased that Rachelle has decided to join us," Blaylock said. "I have been following her since she played high school ball at Carterville and had a great career at John A. Logan College. I hope that she continues her great play as a Saluki."
At Carterville High School, Runge helped her team to a Class 2A state championship in 2008 with a 38-2 record, while batting .362 for the Lady Lions.
