Women's Golf set to begin play in Cardinal Classic

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois women's golf team will begin play in the Cardinal Collegiate hosted by Ball State University beginning Monday.
The Salukis will be one of 15 teams taking part in the tournament held at The Players Club in Muncie, Ind.
Other teams participating are Ashland, Ball State, Bowling Green, California (Pa.), Cleveland State, Dayton, Eastern Kentucky, Indiana State, IUPUI, Northern Illinois, Oakland, Ohio, Western Michigan and Youngstown State.
"We are ready to get back to competition and the competition will be tough at the Cardinal Classic and we know if we shoot around 300, we can compete with anyone," head coach Diane Daugherty said.
The Salukis are coming off a third place finish at the Redbird Invitational on Sept. 11-12 in Normal, Ill where Margaret Gilley led the team with a 10th place finish overall.
Start time for both days will be a 9 a.m. shotgun start and will consist of 18-holes each day.
