LEMONT, Ill. - Southern Illinois completed the final 18 holes at the John Dallio Memorial on Sunday, moving up two spots to finish 10th out of 13 teams.
SIU shot a 930 (313-312-305) and was led by David Griffin, who carded a 54-hole score of 221 (+5), placing him eighth among 73 golfers.
IUPUI earned first place honors with an 890. Florida Gulf Coast University took second place with a combined score of 892.
"We were disappointed in our play on the first day but felt we competed much better in the final round today," said SIU head coach Leroy Newton.
Jeffrey Miller tied for 45th with a three-round score of 235.Brandon Cauldwell, Jake Erickson and Jamie Stocks recorded scores of 238, 240, and 247, respectively.
"Moving forward we will be a better team because we had the opportunity to play on a great course this weekend in the cold and wind, so that is a great learning experience for us," Newton said.
The Salukis continue their fall schedule when they compete in the Weibring Intercollegiate in Normal, Ill. on Oct. 2.
