Stephen Franklin to play in Eastham Energy College Football All-Star Game

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois linebacker Stephen Franklin will play in the inaugural Eastham Energy College Football All-Star Game on Jan. 23 in Tempe, Ariz.
The game is being played at Arizona State's Sun Devil Stadium and kicks off at 6:30 p.m. (CT). FS-Arizona, Fox Sports West and Fox College Sports are all televising the game live.
Franklin is the second Saluki to accept an invitation to play in a postseason all-star game, joining cornerback Korey Lindsey who will play in the East-West Shrine Game on Jan. 22. Franklin and Lindsey will be the 17th and 18th Salukis in program history to compete in a postseason all-star game.
The 6-0, 235 inside linebacker from Kansas City, Mo. led Southern Illinois with 76 tackles in 2010 and was named to the All-Missouri Valley Football Conference second team.
Franklin, who played in all 50 SIU games since his true freshman year in 2007, had 174 tackles in his career and 12.5 tackles for a loss. A team captain as a senior, he had 5.5 tackles for a loss in 2010 with two sacks, two pass breakups, two quarterback hurries and one interception.
The coaches for the Eastham Energy College Football All-Star Game are Joe Moglia and Hal Mumme, the one-time coach of the University of Kentucky and current coach at McMurry University.
