Men's Basketball to host Green Bay in BracketBusters

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Pairings for the 2011 ESPN BracketBusters tournament were announced Monday, and Southern Illinois will host Green Bay in a non-televised game on Sat., Feb. 19 at 2:05 p.m.
The Salukis (10-12) and Phoenix (12-11) have met three times previously, and Southern holds a 3-1 lead in the all-time series. The last meeting between the schools was on Dec. 22, 1990, at the Old Style Classic in Chicago. The game was won by SIU, 70-64. The Salukis are 2-0 at home against Green Bay.
The Phoenix are currently in sixth place in the Horizon League standings. They last made the NCAA Tournament in 1996, which marked their third-straight NCAA appearance.
The Salukis are 6-2 in BracketBuster games and have participated each year since the tournament's inception in 2003. SIU won road games at Butler (2007) and Kent State (2005), and home games versus Western Michigan (2010), Nevada (2008), Hawaii (2004) and UW-Milwaukee (2003). The losses were at home to Louisiana Tech (2006) and at UIC (2009).
The men's basketball game will be followed at 4:30 p.m. by a women's basketball matchup between SIU and Bradley. A men's ticket will be valid for both games.
