Women's Golf tied for third at MAC Preview

FISHERS, IND. - After round one, the Southern Illinois women's golf team sits in a tie for third place at the MAC Preview.
Ryann Gilley paced the Salukis with her tied for first place finish after 18 holes with a 73 (37-36). She is in a three-way tie for first while the Salukis as a team are tied for third with host Western Michigan shooting a 312, seven strokes behind leaders Toledo and Eastern Michigan.
"I am very happy with Ryann's performance who carried our team today to secure a tied for third place finish after day one," Head coach Alexis Miihelich said.
Margaret Gilley came in next for the Salukis in a tie for 19th with a 78 (37-41), while Cassie Rushing completed day one tied for 28th with an 80 (39-41).
Shaina Rennegarbe followed one stroke behind Rushing with an 81 (36-45) and a tie for 33rd, while Alisha Matthews rounded out the team scores with an 82 to tie for 40th.
"We had a rough start but we played solid as a team the last nine holes to bounce back," Mihelich said. "There is room for improvement with all of our members of the squad."
Performing as individuals, Jennifer Bernhardt came in for a tie in 71st with an 88 (43-45) while Ashleigh Rushing tied for 75th with a 89 (46-43).

The Salukis will tee off in tomorrow's final round with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CT at Hawthorne Golf & Country Club.
