→ Jacksonville State enters the weekend with a 8-3 record and is 5-1 at home. The Gamecocks have won five-straight and eight of its past nine since opening up with two losses to start the year. JSU swept Middle Tennessee, SIU's next opponent, in a three-game series during the second weekend of the season.
→ Because of injuries, SIU only has three upperclassmen in its lineup. Brian Bajer, Chris Murphy and Jordan Sivertsen are the three and they are Southern's top three hitters this year. The trio has a combined batting average of .339 and is responsible for 26 of Southern's 45 RBIs this season.
→ Junior outfielder Jordan Sivertsen continues to carry the Saluki offense. He is batting .350 this year and leads the team with nine RBIs and seven extra-base hits. Sivertsen hit his second home run of the season on Wednesday in a 10-9 loss to Le Moyne.
