RICHMOND, Ky - The Southern Illinois women's golf team finished ninth overall in their final regular season tournament at the EKU Lady Colonel Classic.
As a team, the Salukis shot a 948, just four strokes behind eighth place Bowling Green State after three rounds at Arlington Golf Course.
The Salukis finished round two, which was suspended Saturday night due to darkness, with a 318 while round three was hampered with the disqualification of Ashleigh Rushing because of an issue with her scorecard.
"The scores in the third round are not indicative of how we played because I thought we played really well and Ashleigh had a 76 in the last round so that hurt us but I still thought it was a great way to finish out the tournament," Head coach Diane Daugherty said.
Alisha Matthews finished the tournament on a high note as she with scores of 78 and 75 to finish in a tie for 37th with an overall 237 but Shaina Rennegarbe was a top the Saluki leader board in a tie for 27th with an overall score of 235.
Margaret Gilley followed closely behind with an overall score of 238 (79, 80, 79) in a tie for 44th and Cassie Rushing finished with a 243 (79, 81, 83).
Ashleigh Rushing finished the first two rounds with a 79 and 84 before being disqualified in round three.
As individuals competing in the tournament, Alex Anderson finished in a tie for 47th (78, 81, 81) while Jennifer Bernhardt finished tied for 56th (79, 86, 80).
Amber Phillips rounded out the field of Salukis in the tournament with a 71st place finish (90, 98, 98).
