Last time they met: On April 10-11, 2010 in Carbondale where te Salukis swept the Sycamores in 8-0, 3-1, and 4-3 wins at Charlotte West Stadium.
All-time record: SIU leads the all-time series 65-17.
SCOUTING THE SYCAMORES
The Sycamores bring a 14-20 overall and 3-8 MVC (7th place) record into the weekend series. In action on Thursday, ISU dropped a 5-2 contest to nationally ranked Nebraska. ISU started off the conference season with a five game losing streak to Drake and Missouri Sate followed by a sweep of Wichita State and dropping two of three to Evansville last weeekend. They are led by freshman outfielder Alex Baumgart with a .316 average while Bailey Wittenauer leads the team with 27 RBIs and holds a .308 batting average. In the circle, the Sycamores hold a 3.61 staff ERA while Lindsey Beisser has a 1.88 ERA with a 3-3 record. Kristin Felker and Sarah Evans combine for nearly the rest of the staff's statistics including Felker's 2.56 ERA and 8-6 record while Evan's holds 4.97 ERA with a 3-5 record.
SHUTTING DOWN THE SKYHAWKS
In non conference action Thursday, the Salukis took down UT-Martin in a 6-0 victory. The win marked the Dawgs fifth straight win and a 3-0 record against OVC schools this season as they also defeated SEMO (10-0, five innings) and EIU (2-0). The Dawgs and Skyhawks spent most of the game in a pitchers duel until the Salukis capitalized on a two error, five run sixth inning to lift them to a 6-0 win. Danielle Glosson earned her 15th victory of the year and ninth shutout of the season and 25 of her career, putting her in sole possession of third place all time.
STREAKIN'
With a 6-0 win over UT-Martin Thursday, the Salukis matched their longest win streak of the season with five games. The Salukis went 5-0 in action at the Moe's Blue and Green Invite on Feb. 25-27.
BLAYLOCK APPROACHING 450
Head coach Kerri Blaylock is fast approaching the 450-win mark in her career. Currently, she has amassed 440 career wins and is just 10 away from the historic mark.
ORSBURN BRINGS 'EM HOME
With eight RBIs alone in action last week, Taylor Orsburn is now leading the team and league in RBIs with 29. The freshman outfielder is also second on the team in home runs with six and holds a team high .584 slugging percentage.
DEADLY TOP OF THE ORDER
The Salukis top of the order has provided a majority of the team's offense this season. Currently, the Salukis 1-2-3 hitters, Mallory Duran, Morgan Barchan, and Haley Gorman all lead the team in batting average with .366, .315, and .308 batting averages, respectively. The trio combines for 47 RBIs, 104 hits and 19 stolen bases.
