Mallory Duran named MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week

ST. LOUIS - Mallory Duran has been selected as one of the Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athletes of the Week, Commissioner Doug Elgin announced today. Duran was honored for her performance during the period of April 18-24.
The junior outfielder from Windsor, Colo., batted .588 (10-for-17) with a double, triple, two home runs and a 1.118 slugging percentage, as the Salukis won four of five games -- defeating SIU-Edwardsville (10-1 on April 19), Evansville (13-3 on April 20) and Missouri State (4-3 and 5-3 on April 22) and falling at Evansville (3-0 on April 20).
Duran, who has a 4.00 cumulative grade-point average in English education, has now had a hit in 10-straight contests, including seven games where she had two or more hits.
On April 22, she clouted a walk-off solo home run to give the Salukis an eight-inning win over Missouri State.
Now in its 12th year of existence, The Valley's Scholar-Athlete program is sponsored by Prairie Farms, Roberts and Hiland Dairies. On a weekly basis, the Conference honors its student-athletes for their athletic performance for a one-week period and academic success in the classroom.
