Women's Golf to compete at Cardinal Classic

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois women's golf team will hit the links this Saturday and Sunday for the Cardinal Classic hosted by Ball State.
The Salukis are coming off just a second place finish at the Redbird Invitational in Normal on Sept. 11 and will compete in a field of 11 teams including host Ball State University, Cleveland State, Northern Illinois, Dayton, Youngstown State, Indiana State, IUPUI, St. John's University, Ohio, and Western Illinois.
Cassie Rushing looks to improve on her tied for fourth place finish at the Redbird Invitational, where she shot a career low of 71 in the first round.
As a team last week, the Salukis shot a 926 - the lowest three round score since Oct. 19, 2007, when the Salukis shot a 925 at the Shoot-out at the Legends tournament.
SIU also competed at the Cardinal Classic last season, where they finished second overall as a team.
This year's tournament will be held at the Players Club Golf Course, a par 72, 6258 yard course located in Yorktown, Ind. Teams will play two rounds of 18 holes with 9 a.m. shot gun start each day.
