CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University men's basketball coach Chris Lowery announced Friday that sophomore guard Diamond Taylor has been suspended for a violation of team rules.
"Diamond remains a member of our team and his discipline will be handled internally," Lowery said. "His actions going forward will be an important consideration."
Taylor started nine games as a freshman last season and averaged 3.2 points and 1.5 rebounds. The 6-foot-4 Chicago native came on strong at the end of the season, scoring a career-high 12 points versus Indiana State and making 6-of-11 shots from 3-point range in the last five games.
"I am disappointed when any of our players makes an error in judgement, but I am confident that Diamond will learn from this mistake and move forward," Lowery added.
