Desmar Jackson named MVC Newcomer of the Week

Desmar Jackson was named the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week, the league announced Monday, after the junior guard made the game-winning 3-point shot with 12 seconds left to beat Fresno State last week.

The Wyoming transfer led the Salukis (4-1) with a career-high 25 points on 9-of-16 shooting from the field, including 3-of-4 from 3-point range against the Bulldogs. He also added eight rebounds and two blocked shots.

Saluki players have won the award eight times since its inception in 2005. The last time a Saluki claimed the honor was on Jan. 18, 2010, when then-freshman Gene Teague won it.
