McCall earns MVC Field Athlete of the Week honors

ST. LOUIS -- Southern Illinois thrower Jeneva McCall has been named the Missouri Valley Conference's Field Athlete of the Week the league announced Tuesday.
Jeneva McCall swept the throws competitions for the third consecutive week at the Illinois State Dual meet on Saturday to continue her reign as the top female thrower in the country.
McCall recorded a toss of 58-03.75 in the shot put and 192-9 in the discus throw to hold the longest marks in the nation. The Dolton, Ill. native also has the longest throw in the nation in the hammer with the mark of 227-8 she recorded at the Vanderbilt Invitational on March 23.
The Saluki women have held a top-25 position for the second week in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Association's (USTFCCCA) rankings. They currently sit ranked 21st in the country. The men are ranked 79th.
The SIU track and field team will travel to Terre Haute, Ind. Saturday, April 14 to compete in the Indiana State Pacesetter.
