CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Southern Illinois track and field team will travel to Auburn, Alabama this weekend to compete in the War Eagle Invitational.
The meet is scheduled to have some of the best teams in the country as Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Penn State, and host Auburn highlight the many nationally ranked competitors.
Jeneva McCall set a new facility record at last season's War Eagle Invitational as she broke Auburn's Hutsell-Rosen Track record in the women's hammer throw with a toss of 217-01.
Competition begins Friday at 4:30 p.m. with the men's hammer throw and women's javelin. The field events continue Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with the track events getting underway at 1:00 p.m.
The Saluki women fell two spots this week in the USTFCCA weekly rankings. SIU is still within the top 25 although, ranked 23rd in the nation. The men are currently ranked 84th.
