Allie VadeBoncouer named MVC Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS - Sophomore catcher Allie VadeBoncouer has been named this week's State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week.
VadeBoncouer went on a tear in action last week, helping the Salukis to a 5-1 record against Evansville, Eastern Illinois and Drake. The sophomore catcher held a .529 batting average over six games going 9-for-17 with a double, a home run and 11 RBI.
The righty from Kankakee, Ill., went 7-for-9 in mid week action against Evansville and Eastern Illinois including a 4-for-5 performance with five RBI in the doubleheader sweep of the Purple Aces. She also scored four runs, had 13 total bases, drew four walks, hit a sacrifice fly and was hit by two pitches - a category she has led the nation in for the past week.
VadeBoncouer held a .765 slugging percentage and a .625 on-base percentage for the week as she started every game as the Salukis catcher. On the season, VadeBoncouer holds SIU's third-best batting average at .355 with four doubles, a triple and team-highs in home runs with seven and RBI with 46. She also holds a .607 slugging percentage and .556 on-base percentage in 2012.
VadeBoncouer is the Salukis' fourth player of the week honoree this season as Mallory Duran-Sellers, Haley Gorman, and Taylor Orsburn have also won the weekly award.
