Kelsea Ashton named MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week

ST. LOUIS - Sophomore third baseman Kelsea Ashton has been named one of this week's Prarie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athletes of the Week.
Ashton, a native of Carterville, Ill., was awarded for her performances last week as she hit .375 and posted a .522 on-base percentage to helps the Salukis to a 5-1 record - sweeping a double-header from Evansville (2-1 and 9-1 on April 17), defeating Eastern Illinois (10-2 on April 19) and taking two of three from Drake (winning 13-0 and 6-5 on April 21 and losing 4-2 on April 22).
Ashton, who has a 3.929 cumulative grade-point average in biological sciences, added seven runs scored and five RBI during the six contests. She also coaxed six walks and picked up two sacrifices to increase her nation-leading season total to 20.
