Norman, Okla. - Southern Illinois senior golfer Jake Erickson has been named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar. The honor is bestowed on those who are a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70-percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke-average under 76.0 and maintain a GPA of at least 3.2.
Erickson was one of 148 Division I golfers to earn the accolade. He has earned a 3.46 GPA at SIU and is a two-time first-team Missouri Valley Conference Scholar Athlete.
On the course, Erickson is a two-time first-team All-MVC selection. As a junior, he won two tournaments in 2011-12, becoming just the second player in SIU history to win two tournaments in the same year. He shot four rounds in the 60s, leading to a team-leading stroke average of 74.13. He shot a 67 at the Wasiota Winds Fall Kick-Off Classic, which is the seventh lowest single-round score in school history, and was a three-time MVC Golfer of the Week.
