Softball opens fall season Sunday at home

CARBONDALE, Ill.— The Southern Illinois softball team will open its 2012 fall season Sunday afternoon at Charlotte West Stadium.
The Salukis will play host to John A. Logan College at 1 p.m. and Southeast Missouri State at 3 p.m.
Sunday’s games mark the first of three weekends of fall play for the Salukis. SIU will be back at Charlotte West September 23 when the Salukis host SIU Edwardsville and Lake Land College before finishing off the fall September 29-30 at the State Farm Classic in Bloomington, Ill.
Southern returns 12 players that went 36-20 last season and advanced to the Missouri Valley Conference Championship game.
