LEDBETTER, Ky. - The Southern Illinois women's golf team travels to Murray State for the fourth annual Drake Creek Invitational on Monday and Tuesday. The tournament features 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday.
Southern is competing in the tournament for the first time. In the first tournament of 2012, SIU finished seventh at the Redbird Invitational. Ashleigh Rushing and Cassie Rushing led the Salukis, tying for 11th individually.
Freshmen Amy Lee and Mattie Lindner competed in their first collegiate rounds, placing third and fourth, respectively, for the Salukis. Another newcomer, Alexis Gatton, competed as an individual. Senior Shaina Rennegarbe tied with Lindner for the fourth spot on the team.
The Salukis shook off a second-round score of 323 to post a 311 in the third round at the Redbird Invitational, which was the second-best score in the round.
